Maslenitsa 2008

This Friday, March 7th, we celebrated Maslenitsa, or Pancake week. Maslenitsa is a Russian folk holiday, celebrating the imminent end of the winter. The most characteristic element of Maslenitsa is bliny (Russian pancakes), popularly taken to symbolize the sun. Here are some photos!
